Rights Respecting School
Rights Respecting School
UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. In 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC or UNCRC).
The Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) is an initiative run by UNICEF to raise the awareness of children’s rights. We seek to embed the CRC into our curriculum as widely as possible through Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development, RE and PSHE.
Our vision is that the ‘Rights Respecting School’ award (RRSA) will support our pupils in becoming confident, caring and responsible young citizens both in school and within the wider community.
For further information on the CRC and the work carried out by UNICEF you can visit:

We have now achieved the Silver award and are working towards achieving Gold.
Why are we a Rights Respecting School?
We not only want to teach children about their rights but we want them to understand how to respect each other’s rights.
Rights Respecting language use makes us think more about other people and how our actions and words affect them.
Every year, each class will make a class charter. This charter is agreed and signed by the children and details how we will show respect for each other’s rights.
At Janvrin we believe everything we do should be for the benefit of the children’s development and their opinions can shape how we do things. We continue to have a Rights Respecting Ambassador team who help to spread the message and their peers’ voices to all.
How can you help?
At Janvrin we believe we are all partners in the children’s future where we need to work together to ensure that children receive the best education possible.
As parents and carers it is your responsibility to help teach your child about their rights. You should talk to them about it and how important they are.
Thank you for your support.
