  • Janvrin School Christmas Message

    Published 19/12/19

    Janvrin Christmas Message:

    Dear Families of Janvrin School

This term has been a very successful one for the school and we have seen excellent progress from children across the school in many, many areas. Your continued support of this is fundamental to the children’s success and we would like to thank you for all of your efforts and engagement with staff throughout the term.

The staff at Janvrin are amazing and I am so proud to be a part of the team that works so hard for the children. Thank you to the staff at Janvrin.

The Christmas Fair was a wonderful way of celebrating a special time of year with our School Community as well as raising an astonishingly impressive £2300 for the school fund. We will decide with the children the resources we can buy with this next term and keep parents updated on this. Thank you so much for making this such a wonderful event.

The School Meals project started this term and has been a huge success. We have about 50% of the children in school now having a hot meal at some point throughout the week and the uptake for meals has steadily increased throughout the term. The children are clearly enjoying the meals and have some clear favourite options! We will continue to develop this project throughout the year and to seek your feedback and comments as the service progresses.

Next term we will be reinforcing our parking procedures more fully as we are still experiencing some serious problems at the end of the day with some parents parking and arriving at the ‘wrong’ time and blocking spaces for parents who need to pick up on time. Please be aware of this and we will send more information and instruction around this early next term.

Friday 20th December (tomorrow!) is the last day of term so it will be important that your child has taken home all equipment and clothing (including lost property) from this term. The teachers and staff will help with this.

Friday is a normal UNIFORM day.

    School re-opens on Monday 6th January 2020.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy holiday break and a prosperous New Year. See you all again in 2020!

    Kindest regards

    Iain George

  • Head Teacher's Thanks

    Published 12/12/19

I just wanted to thank everyone who came to our Christmas Fair on Friday evening and for helping to make this such a wonderful and special event.

As you know, this is just the second year we have run the Fair and I feel that this year’s was even better than last year. However, we always appreciate any feedback from families and if there are any aspects you feel we could improve or just continue with please let the school know through the usual links. Thank you.

The main purpose of the Fair is to celebrate together as a school community but with the added bonus of possibly raising funds for the children going into next year.

We haven’t made the final count yet but the early indications are that you have raised over £2000 for the children in one evening! A remarkable and brilliant achievement and one that we can all be proud of. Thank you very much.

We will continue with our Christmas Celebrations for the children leading towards the end of term on the 20th December and will keep you updated on all events and concerts etc. undertaken by the children.

Once again, thank you all for a brilliant evening.

    Kindest regards

    Iain George

  • Jersey Putting Children First

    Published 21/11/19

The Government of Jersey is launching an Island-wide campaign to encourage everyone in Jersey to support our Pledge to Put Children First.

On World Children’s Day (Wednesday, 20 November) this campaign will encourage everyone from politicians to businesses, teachers to police officers, family and friends to neighbours to support the Pledge to Put Children First.

We want Jersey to be the best place for children and young people to grow up and we want to share what we are doing, as a Government and a community, to Put Children First.

The Council of Ministers has recognised the importance of prioritising this group of young Islanders and has committed to ‘Put Children First’ in the Government Plan, Common Strategic Policy and Children and Young People’s Plan.

We’re now encouraging all islanders to get involved and support the Pledge to Put Children First. Everyone in Jersey has a role to play in the care and protection of children and helping to build a child-friendly Jersey.

Why should you support the Pledge?

Putting Children First means that all children and young people will grow up safely, learn and achieve, live a healthy life and are valued and involved in everyday decisions that affect their lives.

Please log onto gov.je/PuttingChildrenFirst to pledge your support.

Please enter an introduction for your news story here.
