Careers Education
As part of our Careers programme, Year 4D had the pleasure of taking part in a pilot event: ‘Inspiring the Future’.
This event gave the children the opportunity to understand some of the jobs that people have within Ports of Jersey.
To begin, the children asked the 4 volunteers questions which only required yes/no answers! From these answers, the children had to work out their roles within Ports of Jersey. Some very clever children figured out that they worked for the Ports of Jersey, and one worked on a boat!
The visitors then went and changed into their uniform and collected equipment that they use to do their jobs. The visitors included an airport fireman, an air traffic controller, an air traffic control engineer, and a ferry engineer/mechanic.
The children then had the opportunity to speak to each visitor in small groups and got to know more about the work that they do; as well as the qualifications and subjects specialisms that they needed to do their jobs. The children loved having the opportunity to try on and hold the equipment of the different jobs.
A huge thank you to ECOF and Skills Jersey for giving us this opportunity and for opening the children’s eyes to some of the amazing jobs out there in Jersey!
Our photos show us enjoying this event!
